Kelly Albada received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied interpersonal communication.  She has taught numerous courses, including Relational Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Organizational Communication, and Communication and Social Change.  Her research interests include the influence of mass media on close relationships and social influence attempts towards risky health behaviors.  Recent publications include "Interaction Appearance Theory: Changing Perceptions of Physical Attractiveness through Social Interaction" in Communication Theory and "The Public and Private Dialogue about the American Family on Television" in the Journal of Communication.  Dr. Albada taught at East Carolina University for four years before coming to NC State in 2001.
