A Message from the Director of Graduate Programs

Dr. Andrew R. Binder, Director of Graduate Programs, Department of Communication

The Master of Science in Communication program at NC State University provides an outstanding graduate education from award-winning faculty. The program adheres to the philosophy that communication makes a difference in our everyday lives. In relationships, organizations, the public sphere, global encounters, families, and cultural communities, communication makes a difference. For cultural diversity, our knowledge about the world, critical analysis of social problems, and a meaningful career, communication makes a difference.

Because we believe that communication plays such a fundamental role in all aspects of the human experience, our program takes seriously the responsibility of educating students to be ethical and inquisitive communicators. We provide a rigorous, high-quality curriculum that intertwines theory, research methods, and applied practice. When our graduates leave us, they move forward to become invaluable members of the workforce in both public and private sectors.

Perhaps you are searching for a graduate program that will enhance your undergraduate degree or maybe you are in the workplace as a professional and are seeking further education as a part-time student.
In either case, please browse our site. Our Prospective Students section will be of particular interest.
It includes information on the application process and what to expect as a student in our M.S. program and a member in the community of the Department of Communication

Should you have additional questions about our graduate program, do not hesitate to contact me.
