The applicant Selection Committee, consisting of the Director of Graduate Programs and graduate faculty members who rotate committee membership each year, begins reviewing applications a few days after the February 1 deadline. The Committee carefully evaluates each application packet and chooses 15-20 of the top applicants from a pool of approximately 75 candidates.
The Director of Graduate Programs will notify candidates accepted into the program in late February / early March, via email. Those who have been denied admission will be notified by The Graduate School.
Please do not contact the Department of Communication Graduate Program director or coordinator regarding your application status — we cannot share personal information about applicants or current students due to University privacy policies.
In the notification email, the Director of Graduate Programs will invite U.S.-based candidates selected for a Graduate Assistantship to visit campus as our guests (we will pay for transportation, hotel, meals) to learn more about the program. There is no obligation to join the program. Candidates will be given a deadline (approximately two weeks from the visit date) by which they must accept or decline the offer of an assistantship and entrance into the program.
