Dr. James Kiwanuka-Tondo receives Outstanding Global Engagement Award
NC State Provost Warwick Arden presented Department of Communication associate professor Dr. James Kiwanuka-Tondo with the 2015 Outstanding Global Engagement Award at the 5th Annual Global Engagement Exposition held April 14, 2015, at the University Club. The Expo is sponsored annually by the NCSU Office of International Affairs. The award was sponsored by the NCSU International Operations Council.
Dr. Kiwanuka-Tondo received the award in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in globally engaged teaching, research, extension, engagement, and contributions to economic development. Since 2009, he has led students, faculty, and community leaders across the vast landscape of Africa to countries including his native Uganda, Botswana, Rwanda, and Kenya, to explore the continent’s diverse communication, health, culture, and political environments.
The annual Expo helps fulfill NCSU’s promise to be “locally responsive, globally engaged,” and features achievements in international research, teaching/scholarship, extension, engagement and economic development at NCSU. Faculty, staff, and students engaged in international research, teaching, extension and/or engagement showcase their global projects via poster presentations.
