Dean Phillips Steps Down as Undergraduate Internship Coordinator
Dean Phillips began his third career as a professor at NC State University 19 years ago. As a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication, he teaches courses in public relations and media. As he looks towards retirement, Phillips reflects on his time as the Undergraduate Internship Program Coordinator and the tremendous impact he has had on both the program and his students.

919 Marketing Scholarship and Internship
919 Marketing, a national marketing and public relations agency based in Raleigh, is proud to offer a scholarship award of $919 along with an internship to be completed in the spring or summer of the same year. 919 Marketing has worked with an exciting roster of companies, including Golden Corral, The Joint, Scooter’s Coffee, Rita’s Italian Ice, The Rosetta Stone, in addition to non-profit organizations such as College Foundation North Carolina, Talk it Out and the NC 529 College Savings Plan.
- Application deadline: Nov. 15, 2020
- Reward: $919 and an internship at 919 Marketing in the spring or summer of 2021
- Who can apply: Full-time NC State students who are communication majors with a concentration in public relations
- Selection criteria: Applicants are required to write an essay between 1,000-2,000 words. Spring 2021 scholarship essay topic: “Give us your take on the future of public relations and how this scholarship and internship would help you achieve your college and professional goals.”

Top candidates will be selected for a follow-up phone interview. The 2020 scholarship winner will be announced Dec. 1, 2020.
