NC Literary Festival: Treats Galore for Lit Lovers

Book lovers are absolutely giddy about the 2014 North Carolina Literary Festival coming up in and around NC State’s Hunt Library from April 3 – 6. The free public event is hosted on a rotating basis every few years by the NC State Libraries, the Duke University Libraries and the UNC-Chapel Hill Libraries. The festival, designed to attract people of all ages, includes author readings and discussions, performances, book signings, children’s activities and book sales.

The 2014 festival is drawing spectacular writers such as Pulitzer Prize winners Junot Diaz, Richard Ford and Paul Muldoon; National Book Award winners James McBride and William T. Vollman; North Carolina writers Jaki Shelton Green, Allan Gurganus, Lee Smith and Elizabeth Spencer; best-selling authors Lev Grossman, Peter Straub, Karen Joy Fowler and R.L. Stine; and NC State’s Department of English faculty authors John Balaban, Wilton Barnhardt, John Kessel, Dorianne Laux, Thomas Lisk, Jill McCorkle, Sheila Smith McKoy, Juliana Makuchi Nfah-Abbenyi, Elaine Neil Orr, Jon Thompson, Cat Warren and Walt Wolfram.

And note that while the festival is completely free, the Junot Diaz and Richard Ford events require tickets (get Diaz tickets here and Ford tickets here). Quail Ridge Books and Music in Raleigh also has tickets. But hurry: they will go quickly!
