Conducting Defining Research: A Defining Experience for Undergrads

Creating new knowledge. It's one of the big benefits of studying at a research-intensive university like NC State. And conducting important research is not reserved for faculty and graduate students; we encourage undergrads to conduct research, too. Laken Geiger is a junior with a major in Communication and minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. She has had several media and arts-related internships, and spent Spring 2014 studying in Prague. She is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and Habitat for Humanity.

Internships Help Student Explore Career Options

Kirsten Henning is a junior in Communication who has had three internships to date during her time in CHASS. "It’s been beneficial to intern for a number of different companies," she says. "It allows me to try new things and gives me the chance to find something that I really enjoy."

Donors Help Top Students Reach Their Potential

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences continues to grow as a destination college for talented, top-ranked students from across our state and beyond. Merit scholarships play a critical part in attracting and retaining such students. This year, CHASS awarded more than 100 merit-based scholarships across all its disciplines. A number of scholarship students were able to thank their donors at the college's 2014 Scholarship Luncheon.

NC Literary Festival: Treats Galore for Lit Lovers

Make plans now to attend the NC Literary Festival April 3 - 6 in and around the Hunt Library on NC State's Centennial Campus. Hear your favorite authors from across the university and across the country read from their work. Discuss genres ranging from poetry to cooking, fiction and science fiction. Take a workshop in bookmaking, comics or pop-up books. Fun for all ages. And it's free!
